2                     TRACK and FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS

             Have you consulted the Track and Field Championship website?

             At www.3CountyAthletics.co.uk

             Arrangements for the 3-way championships are well in hand and now need your support.

             Note the closing date of April 11th.

 

 

3                     CLUB DEVELOPMENT

The West Midlands Region has up to £2,000 per club in grants to improve participation or improve performance. The process for claiming is VERY simple. Please come along to the next Development Forum with one specific idea for your Club and details on how that idea can be funded.              Next Greater Warwickshire Forum is on 16th May at 7.00 at Coventry

                        Next Birmingham Forum will be scheduled soon.

 

4                     SOME DATES TO NOTE

Saturday 11th March. Inter Counties Race Walking Championships at Coventry.

Saturday 24th March Warwickshire Open Road Relays at Sutton Park.

 

Sunday 25th March Spring Warm up meeting at Saffron Lane. Details enclosed/attached.

(an opportunity to try the new track and new stadium before the County Championships)

Thursday 26th April 10k open track race at Saffron Lane 7.30. Entry fee £4 on the night

(another opportunity to try the new track and new stadium before the County Championships)

 

Sunday 29th April Stratford Half Marathon including the Warwickshire Championships.

Confirmed Coventry Godiva 5 Mile Races

      Monday 7th May                   Bank Holiday 5

      Wednesday 27th June           Midsummer 5 including the Warwickshire Championships

      Friday 31st August                Autumnal 5

Sunday 10th June Two Castles 10k from Warwick to Kenilworth. Details enclosed/attached.

 

Inter Counties Fell Running Championships is to be held in conjunction with the Crowden Horseshoe Race near Glossop in Derbyshire. The race is over 8 miles and the closing date is 30/4/07. For further details contact Eddie Cockayne at edcock@aol.com

5                     MAKING THE MOST OF YOUR COUNTY

Is your Club taking advantage of the County Website and the Bear for your promotions?

 

6                     TECHNICAL OFFICIALS

Significant changes to the governance of Officials are being planned.

More details in the next Bear.

 

7                     2008 CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS

Following an appeal by MCAA, Leamington will be hosting the Midlands Championships next year so we would prefer not to use Newbold Comyn for the County Championships. If your Club would like to host the County Cross Country Champs then please let the chairman know at Ray.Morgan1@Btinternet.com or call the Secretary on 01788 811871

 

8                     WCAA TROPHIES

As previously reported in the Bear, the County Officers have decided to introduce a new trophy for the winning team in every age group of the Cross Country Championships that does not already have one.

 

Would your Club like to dedicate one of the new trophies after a Member who has made a significant contribution to Club and/or County?

 

The County Officers would like to appoint a County Official specifically to look after the County trophies. This involves a small effort just before and just after the County cross country and County track and field championships. Any volunteers?
