UK INTER COUNTIES XC CHAMPIONSHIPS

SATURDAY 24TH FEB. 2007

SENIOR WOMEN.

Having used twelve possible athletes to get eight final runners, and to lose the first and second finishers in the County Championships, it was always going to be difficult to match previous year’s results. The women who did run performed admirably under very tough circumstances. The course was as wet as I’ve seen it in fifteen years visiting Wollaton Park, added to its naturally hilly terrain, it was very tiring.

First Warks. Lady home was Liz Crawford, running above county race form, to finish 114th. Second was Eleanor Greenfield, having a superb run coming home in 120th.

Third scorer was Helen Finch who easily justified her discretionary place to finish 125th. Myshola Kirkham was not too happy with her run (I can’t say what she really said) however she was fourth scorer in 154th. Next was Helen’s twin sister

Joanne Finch who finished 165th. Completing the scoring was Rebecca Smith in 183rd.

In support was Linda Howell who stepped in at two days notice for her first county Champs, I think; she finished 211th. Also the ever smiling Lucy Flanner in 231st.

The team finished in a very creditable 18th place. I would like to thank all the girls who ran for their efforts, Ray Morgan for putting up with my constant queries, finally Becky Freeman who had very fraught time getting to the venue.

Senior Women Team Manager.
