INTERCOUNTIES WOMEN'S XC CHAMPS.
NOTTINGHAM 05.03 2005
 RACE REPORT.
On the day we have our best result for some years to finish 10th team, bettering last years points total by a massive 154, the men steal our glory by actually winning their race! this doesn't lessen the massive improvement made by the women's team which was the youngest by some considerable margin to have competed since I've had the privilege to be team manager.
Sue Harrison, in full Marathon training mode made a somewhat tentative start but soon got into her stride gaining places throughout to finish 15th taking one or two impressive scalps on the way.
Becky Sanders, just 19yrs old, in her first race as a senior on this demanding course made light of the task to finish 48th, which bodes well for the future.
Clare Grice is only 1 year old in training terms but has shown remarkable talent in such a short time. In her first major race finished 83rd. in a field with 275 finishers all of whom were selected from the best of the county champs.
Liz Crawford, also had a fine run moving through the field in the later stages to finish 100th.
Nicola Woods, was hoping to finish higher up the field but disrupted training meant that over this distance on a tough course it's difficult to maintain form, but she stuck at it to finish 112th.
Lucy Flanner, delighted to be running and it showed in an excellent performance to close the team scoring in 132nd.
Eleanor Greenfield, just 4 sec. and 2 places behind Lucy finished 134th.
Eleanor Woods, a mere 15sec. behind them finished 153rd. rounded off an excellent performance which promises much in the future.
