INTERCOUNTIES CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS
6TH MARCH 2004. WOLLATON PARK NOTTINGHAM

WOMEN'S RACE REPORT.

Wollaton Park once again provided the perfect venue for this race, including the weather, except for a short downpour early on. This year provided a completely new team with no-one from last year running today. Unfortunately, Kati Thomas after warming up, felt too ill to compete and for the second year in succession had to pull out at the last minute. On the positive side our team has definitely taken a turn for the younger, which can only be a good thing

THE RACE.

Sue Harrison, looking for a big run in the London Marathon, had a first class run to finish 11th, achieving the best result for Warks. for the last few years at least. She looked good throughout the race and was clearly pleased with the result.
Liz Crawford, who hadn't run in this race recently for a variety of reasons, has got herself into pretty good shape and after travelling up from Surrey where she now lives, turned in a cracking performance full of aggression to finish 70th. We hope to see her again next year.
Sue Wint, not much gets better with age, but Sue seems to be one of those people who can defy the odds and, despite not feeling too great on the day, still pulled out a great run and finished 79th.
Nicola Woods, One of three racing Woods, was running in her back garden so to speak, being at Notts. Uni. just down the road, I think she was not particularly happy with her run but she most certainly had a good run in this quality field and finished 84th.
Lucy Flanner, still not 20! and a student! if she can negotiate the next difficult couple of years will improve on a splendid run and be a huge asset to our team, she finished 189th.
Eleanor Greenfield, completing the team scoring, ran strongly throughout the race keeping us well up the scoring, and finished 208th.

Thanks also to younger sister Eleanor Woods and Rebecca Freeman for their support finishing 240th and 242nd respectively, also reserve Val Carter.

TEAM POSITION 13TH.

Eddie Cockayne.
